• Inflammation of an abdominal appendage
    • i.e. Epiploic appendage or omentum
    • Typically associated with torsion and infarction
  • Can occur in any age group
  • Classification:
    • Primary
    • Secondary to an underlying condition e.g. omental torsion within a hernia
  • Clinically:
    • Localised pain & tenderness; may mimic appendicitis
    • Patient is systemically well
    • Sometimes may have N+V
  • Investigations: ? USS, ? CT, Laparoscopy
  • Management:
    • Conservative Mx vs Laparoscopic resection
    • Can recur
