- Kocherise the duodenum
- Free the diverticulum from surrounding tissue
- Excise
- Stapling or hand-sewn closure can be used depending on the size and location of the diverticulum
- If on the medial wall of the duodenum
- Duodenotomy can be made
- The diverticulum can be everted and stapled across
- The ampulla needs to be protected
- Perform a cholecsyectomy + IOC catheter placement coming through the ampulla which will facilitate protection during transection.
- The ampulla needs to be protected
- Longitudinal duodenotomy then closed transversely
