- Biopsy forceps or tru-cut needle
- Alternatively, wedge biopsy using laparoscopic scissors and grasper with retrieval in an endo-bag
- Biopsy technique
- Use cautery or scissors to excise a small wedge of liver tissue (approx. 0.5–1 cm)
- Apply direct pressure, laparoscopic bipolar, or argon beam to control minor bleeding
- For tru-cut needle: puncture liver capsule under direct vision, fire needle, withdraw and check for bleeding
