  • Mismatch between no. of casualties and medical responders
    • Prioritization of patient care/management based on
      • Injury
      • Severity
      • Prognosis
      • Resource availability
  • If resources are readily available and are able to cater for the patients involved with the situation, life threatening conditions are managed first
    • If they aren’t, patients with best chance of survival are managed first
  • Life threatening > Limb threatening > Neither
  • SALT (Sort, Assess, Life-Saving Interventions, Transport/Treatment) Triage Algorithm
