Aetiology
Chronic balanitis associated with diabetes or balanitis xerotica obliterans
Risk factors
- Poor hygiene or conversely, overwashing
- Non-retraction of the foreskin
Clinical
- Penile pain and DC
- Impotence
- Glans erythema and tenderness
- Difficulty with urination and maintaining flow
Management
- Gentle retraction, soaking and replacement of foreskin daily
- Topical abx - bactrum
- PO Cotrimoxazole
Natural Hx
- Untreated, recurrent or chronic infection can lead to phimosis, meatal stenosis, retention and VUJ
