• Passes along pelvic side wall below the Obturator Nerve
  • Enters Obturator Foramen with the Obturator Nerve and Vein
  • Passes into Thigh
  • Gives off small branch to the periosteum at the back of Pubis
  • Vessel anastomoses with the Pubic branch of the Inferior Epigastric Artery
  • In 30% of pts, this connection opens up to become an Accessory or Abnormal Obturator Artery, replacing the normal branch from the Internal Iliac in the latter instance
  • Would usually run from Inferior Epigastric Artery to the Obturator Foramen passing on the LATERAL side of the Femoral Ring, i.e. adjacent to the External Iliac Vein
  • When it lies on the MEDIAL side (alongside the Lacunar Ligament), it is vulnerable to injury
