Non-neoplastic appendiceal mucinous lesions
- Simple mucoceles, or retention cysts, are characterized by degenerative epithelial changes due to obstruction (eg, fecalith) and distention, without any evidence of mucosal hyperplasia or neoplasia.
- They are also referred to as inflammatory or obstructive mucoceles.
