- Cross anterior surface of Quadratus Lumborum
- Derived from the 1st Lumbar Nerve (Anterior Ramus)
- Emerge from the lateral border of Psoas Major as a common stem with the Ilioinguinal Nerve which then divides or as separate nerves
- Lie posterior to the kidney
- Pierce the anterior layer of the Lumbar Fascia and pass anterior to it through Transversus Abdominis
- In the anterior abdominal wall, it lies in the neurovascular plane between the Internal Oblique and Transversus Abdominis muscles above the Iliac Crest
- Gives a Lateral Cutaneous Branch
- Pierces Oblique muscles above the Iliac Crest to supply skin of the upper part of the Buttock behind the area supplied by the Subcostal Nerve
- Continues downwards in the neurovascular plane and pierces Internal Oblique above the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine
- Pierces the External Oblique Aponeurosis 2.5cm above the Superficial Inguinal Ring and ends by supplying Suprapubic skin
